Tippa Irie

Tippa is a chart topping Reggae sensation that brings the carnival vibe exclusively to Delux Radio with his international ‘World Reggae Show!’

At the age of 17, Tippa was encouraged by his family to enter talent competitions and it wasn’t long before he was signed to his first record label LGR by Sir Lloyd. Tippa soon got his big break and was asked to join King Tubby’s Sound. Two years later he was signed by Dennis Rowe and Lloyd Francis from Saxon Sound System, who were at the forefront of the UK Reggae and Dancehall scene and Tippa became famous all over the UK, USA, Europe and Jamaica.

Various top record labels became interested in Tippa, but it was Greensleeves that offered him a recording contract which he accepted and went on to release “Jus a Speak” with Daddy Colonel. Next, came a string of singles including

“Good To Have The Feeling You’re The Best,” “Complain Neighbour”, and “Hello Darling”, which hit No.1 in the British Reggae ch

arts and No 22 in the British National charts and was a hit all over Europe and the Caribbean. Tippa went on to release 15 studio albums-with a string of No 1 hits including “Ragamuffin Girl”, featuring Peter Hunnigale, “Superwoman”, featuring. Winsome and “Stress”  featuring Lloyd Brown.

Tippa has worked with various artists from the Mad Professor to the Black-Eyed Peas and he was nominated for a Grammy in 2004 for the worldwide smash hit single “Hey Mama” which Tippa wrote with will-i-am and taken from their album Elephunk. He has also worked with bands and artists such as Maxi Priest, UB40, Aswad, and countless others. Tippa Irie is not just a successful entertainer; he has built up a reputation as a top record producer and owns his own studio.
